The Newcomers Club of Decatur is open to more than just newcomers. New to the area? Retired? Widowed? Empty nest? Just want to make new friends?

If you live in Decatur or the surrounding area, you are welcome!

Come play cards, go on field trips, enjoy coffee in each other's homes and take new adventures together!
 
Our luncheon/business meeting is the second Wednesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. for $15 at Burningtree Country Club (2521 Burningtree Drive, SE).

A Tribute to Great Jazz Divas (second season)
A Valley Arts and Entertainment Production in association with the Princess Theatre
Who: Call for singers from around the Tennessee Valley to sing and portray one of the great jazz divas, including Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Dinah Washington, Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday, Anita O’Day and others.

Jun 26 - Jun 29    SWeETy Camp
The Chamber each summer presents SWeETy (Summer Welding & Electrical Technology) Camp for 9th – 12th grade girls. This free camp provides hands-on experience in welding and electricity and help students develop problem solving skills and teamwork as they participate in instructor-led projects, field trips, and interact with women role models during industry sponsored lunches. Certified and trained employees are in high demand in the skilled trade fields, and the Chamber is committed to preparing the next generation of a trained workforce. Programs like these equip our young people for success in the future.

In this Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2016 training class, students will create and edit basic worksheets and workbooks. This course is designed for students who want to gain the necessary skills to create, edit, format, and print basic Microsoft Excel 2016 worksheets.

Target Audience: Students who have little or no familiarity with Microsoft Excel 2016 or more experienced Excel users who want to learn the topics covered in this course in the 2016 interface.

Cost:  $249.00 per person.

Class Materials 

Class Prerequisites

Experience in the following is required for this Microsoft Excel class:

  • Familiarity with using a personal computer, mouse, and keyboard.
  • Comfortable in the Windows environment.
  • Ability to launch and close programs; navigate to information stored on the computer; and manage files and folders.

Preparing for Class 

  • Must bring your own laptop with Microsoft Excel loaded on it.

Jun 27    2017 YP Leadership Luncheon - June

The YP Leadership Luncheon series is an opportunity for members of the under-40 crowd across Morgan County to both connect and socialize while developing their leadership skills. This one-hour program coincides with the traditional lunch hour where attendees can enjoy lunch and gather information applicable to their careers and community. 

Ellen Didier founded Red Sage Communications, Inc. in 2006 and has grown it to be one of the largest, most established marketing and web companies in north Alabama. With clients located across the state and throughout the southeast, their portfolio includes several medical practices and eight hospitals in the healthcare industry, economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, and tourism groups in five states and more than half the counties across Alabama, and a diverse collection of small businesses that include defense contractors, engineering companies and law firms. She and her company have been recognized with various awards. She was named the 2008 Start-Up of the Year by the Women’s Business Center of North Alabama, the 2013 Small Business Administration (SBA) Small Business Person of the Year in Alabama, and the 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year at Innovate Huntsville.
